Residents Vote in Favor of Road Funding
It looks like money for road repairs are coming to the City of Yakima.
Last night, people voted in favor of passing Proposition 1, which would require the city to allocate 2 million dollars a year to road improvement projects.
The city has discussed several options, such as car tab fees, and tax hikes, in order to provide funding for some of the area's failing roadways -- voters are glad something is being done.
"There's a lot of city roads that are in need of major repair," said Henry Herron, "Especially if you start getting outside the downtown area, you start getting into some of the residential areas, especially if you get to the east side of town."
It will be a few weeks before the proposition is officially passed and finalized.
