Down & Dirty at the Mud & Sun Run

About 300 people ran, balanced, climbed, and pulled their way through a five and a half mile obstacle course today.

The sand, dirt and mud proved to be a big challenge for those who participated in the first ever Black Widow Mud & Sun Run, but that's exactly why they signed up for it.

Waves of about 50 participants took off each half hour starting at 9 a.m. at the Horn Rapids Motorsports Complex.

Soldiers-in-training helped participants over each of the 14 obstacles and cheered them on.

Due to the success of today's run, event sponsor, Townsquare Media Group, says they'll be sure to bring back the mud run next year.
