Coroner rules Richland duplex fire death an accident

A woman who died in a duplex fire in Richland late Sunday night died as a result of breathing in too much smoke, vapors and toxins.

The fire broke out at a home on Fitch Street.

The Benton County coroner believes the victim is 54 year-old Denise Myers.

He says the woman died of inhalation of products of combustion, and extensive thermal injuries.

He has ruled the death to be an accident.

Firefighters are still investigating what caused the fire.

The coroner is meeting with a forensic dentist tomorrow to confirm the woman's identity.
