State Money to Fund Delta HS?
The Kennewick School District wants to use money earmarked to renovate several elementary schools to go towards building a new Delta High School.
In 2009 voters approved a 68 million dollar bond to remodel the schools and the district received state matching funds as well.
The district currently has an excess of 20 million dollars in state funds and wants to use one to two million to help with the new Delta High School facility. Using excess state money for other projects is allowed according to the bond.
Delta is a stem, or science, technology, engineering and math school and all three Tri Cities school districts are helping fund a new campus.
The school board will hold a public hearing on october 10th, before making a final decision.
