Smoke Over Ellensburg

After a break from the smoke yesterday, the Department of Ecology is once again advising people in some communities to stay inside.

Heavy smoke is returning to Yakima and Kittitas counties and will liikely create unhealthy air quality.

Officials from the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency say even after the fires are put out, the air will still remain unhealthy for quite some time.

"That smoldering fire is going to be with us for quite a while. It's not going to be out until mother nature takes care of it with snow or a lot of rain," said Dave Caprile.

The clean air agency says the smoke could remain in the valley for up to a month.
