Yakima Complex Fire now 3,500 acres
The Yakima Complex Fire is 10% contained according to an update this morning from the state Department of Natural Resources.
The fire, which includes large areas of Yakima and Kittitas Counties, consists of more than 100 small lightning-caused fires burning on local, state and federal land.
3,500 acres are involved in the fire, and one structure has been destroyed.
400 homes and structures are threatened, and 902 firefighters are assigned to the fires.
The fires were started by lightning last Saturday, September 8th.
Firefighting efforts have cost $3 million so far.
