HSD raises more than $250,000 for Kennison Field renovation
Two weeks following the announcement of a $700,000 funding gap between available resources and facility needs, the Hermiston School District, in partnership with the Kennison Field Renovation Committee, has raised more than $250,000 in resources, which closes 35% of the funding gap.
The Hermiston School District, upon the recommendation from the Kennison Field Renovation Committee, is seeking financial support to finalize the Kennison Field Renovation Project for a fall 2013 grand opening.
The project is expected to cost $4 million.
Before fundraising efforts began, the district had $3.3 million.
The outdoor seats at Kennison Field have been deemed dangerous, and there are multiple cracks in the track.
In conjunction with grant writing efforts and in-kind support from local contractors and vendors, Interim Superintendent Wade Smith announced that nearly a dozen benefactors have already pledged over a quarter of a million dollars in resources and support.
