Two weeks following the announcement of a $700,000 funding gap between available resources and facility needs, the Hermiston School District, in partnership with the Kennison Field Renovation Committee, has raised more than $250,000 in resources, which closes 35% of the funding gap.

The Hermiston School District, upon the recommendation from the Kennison Field Renovation Committee, is seeking financial support to finalize the Kennison Field Renovation Project for a fall 2013 grand opening.

The project is expected to cost $4 million.

Before fundraising efforts began, the district had $3.3 million.

The outdoor seats at Kennison Field have been deemed dangerous, and there are multiple cracks in the track.

In conjunction with grant writing efforts and in-kind support from local contractors and vendors, Interim Superintendent Wade Smith announced that nearly a dozen benefactors have already pledged over a quarter of a million dollars in resources and support.

Tthe following businesses and individuals have pledged their support to the project:

  • OSU-Hermiston Agriculture Research & Extension Center
  • Wenaha Group, Inc.
  • Calpine Corporation
  • Barnett & Moro, PC
  • Lifetime Vision Source
  • Threemile Canyon Farms, LLC.
  • Mid Columbia Bus Company
  • Mark and Jocelyn Jones
  • Additional anonymous benefactors
