Fight in Sunnyside Leads to Several Arrests, Assault on Officer
A fight involving more than 20 people leads to several arrrests and the assault of an officer. The official release from the Sunnyside PD is below:
At about 12:45 AM, Officers from the Sunnyside Police Department, responded to a large fight involving 20 people at the Form Dance Hall located at 1818 Morgan Rd in Sunnyside. A request for assistance was placed to area agencies. YSO deputies, WSP Troopers, Granger PD, Mabton PD, and Grandview PD Officers responded to assist.
Upon the officer’s arrival, Yessenia Verduzco and Margarita Alvarez were taken into custody for the original fight. According to the security officers, multiple fights started as a result of this original fight.
While the officers were there clearing the Dance Hall, another fight broke out. An Officer attempted to take Leonel Ramos into custody. Ramos actively resisted and assaulted an officer. As a result, the officer sustained a minor cut to the forehead and a broken finger on the officer’s left hand. While a second officer came to the aid of the injured officer, he was also assaulted by a group of females. They were later pushed back by other assisting officers and the crowd was cleared. Because of the large number of people, it was undetermined who assaulted the second officer.
