City Council Will Host Public Hearings For Fourth Street
The Yakima City Council wants to hear more from the public before deciding whether to close a section of Fourth Street to traffic.
City Manager Tony O'Rourke is proposing to shut down a section of the street behind the Capitol Theatre -- it would be used as a venue to host events and concerts, and should attract more people to the downtown Yakima area.
The council will be holding public hearings next month.
If the plans are approved, that portion of Fourth Street will be closed off at the beginning of January.
