Mother, daughter killed in head-on collision near Prosser
A mother and her teenage daughter are dead following a head-on collision that occurred Saturday afternoon west of Prosser.
The Washington State Patrol says 21-year-old Jeremy Meyer of Mabton was driving westbound on State Route 22 when he crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on near Richards Road around 2 p.m. Saturday.
Meyer was injured, however, the driver of the other vehicle, 44-year-old Ilda Islas of Prosser and her 14-year-old daughter, Alejandra were killed. Isla's 5-year-old son, Francisco, was injured.
Troopers say the cause of the crash was inattention and that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the accident.
