Man Involved In Gunfire Exchange With Officers Tried To Commit Suicide Earlier
The Yakima County Coroner says a man who took his own life after an officer involved shooting tried to commit suicide prior to the incident.
An autopsy shows 55 year old Joseph Ricard tried to cut his wrists, and ended up bandaging them.
Police were checking on Ricard at his address in Yakima earlier this week, after blood was found in a Lewis County motel room he had stayed in.
Officers and Ricard exchanged gunfire before ricard turned his gun on himself.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is investigating if that blood in the motel matches Ricard's.
