Wapato Public Schools Take Precaution with Full Lockdown
All Wapato Public Schools were placed on full lockdown this afternoon after received word from Wapato Police of an incident involving a gun in town.
The incident, which occurred around 1:35 today, did not take place in or on any Wapato Public Schools property.
However, as a precaution all students were held inside locked classrooms inside locked school buildings and the afternoon buses were delayed for just a few minutes.
The district received word from police around 2:20 p.m. that it was safe to lift the lockdown. The district was able to let classes out this afternoon at their normal time after being in the lockdown for about 45 minutes.
