Richland cosmetology school raising money for breast cancer research
A cosmetology school in Richland is donating part of its profit this month to breast cancer research and education.
Teachers and students at the Academy of Cosmetology are donating all the money they make on Tuesdays in October to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
The breast cancer organization funds breast cancer advocacy programs and health services across the United States.
Instructors at the Richland academy say everybody there has been impacted by breast cancer in one way or another.
"There are many people in the community that have been diagnosed with breast cancer, males included. And we just want to give back to the community" said Rachel Robbins, Academy of Cosmetology instructor.
This is the second year the academy has raised money for breast cancer research.
Last year, teachers and students raised more than $400.
This year, they're hoping to raise even more.
