Kennewick SWAT standoff

The man at the center of a four and a half hour standoff has been booked in the Benton County Correction Center for second degree assault and felony harassment.

The standoff in Kennewick ended peacefully after Jeffrey McGrath, 53, refused to come out of his apartment Sunday morning.

The Tri-Cities SWAT team responded to the Edison Village Green apartments in Kennewick, where the situation which began just around 8:00 AM Sunday morning.

McGrath refused to come out of his apartment after officers responded to a call for domestic violence at McGrath's apartment unit.

The Tri-City Regional SWAT Team said McGrath got in a fight with his girlfriend's son, and when officers confronted him he would not cooperate and locked himself and his girlfriend in the apartment.

The SWAT did not say it was a hostage situation.

Around 12:30 P.M., McGrath came out on his own and did not threaten the SWAT Team and he was taken into custody without any problems.
