A Yakima man suspected of stabbing his father multiple times appears in court today.

31-year-old Darrell Nidiffer is facing charges of attempted second degree murder after allegedly stabbing his 51 year old father, Kirk Nidiffer, in the neck and arms -- it happened on Saturday at their home on the 500 block of 80th Avenue.

Kirk Nidiffer says his son is mentally handicapped, and does not think he intended to kill him.

"I don't even think he knew he did it. I think it was one of them -- he's got other personalties in his head that comes out at times. And it's one of those other personalities. It's almost like he's got a demon inside of him," said Kirk Nidiffer.

Darrell Nidiffer is being held on a 500 thousand dollar bail, and will be arraigned in two weeks.
