Perry Tech Honors Vets
Hundreds gather at Perry Technical Institute in Yakima this morning to dedicate a new veterans monument.
The school unveiled the monument, which is dedicated to veterans and active service members.
Representatives from the state department of veteran affairs also presented Perry Tech with a certificate, recognizing it as a veteran-supportive school.
One veteran says he is pleased more organizations in the area are recognizing those who have served.
"Veterans don't get a lot of due for what they did. I think veterans day is very important, we don't have a lot of people really acknowledge you and pat you on the back," said Navy Veteran Bill Richards.
The monument took over a year to plan and construct, and cost about 15 thousand dollars
