Liquor Prices Likely to Rise on Friday
Liquor sales are likely to rise when the state is taken out of the liquor business on Friday.
Initiative 1183, passed by voters in November, will allow private business owners to sell liquor throughout the state, and take the government out of the sale and distribution.
The initiative imposed a 10% distributor fee and a 17% retail fee on all spirits to reimburse the state for lost revenue, which could raise the price on liquor when the state pulls out on Friday.
State owned liquor stores are closing throughout this week.
