Special Olympics Track Meet
Special needs students in Yakima cross the finish line today for the first annual Special Olympics Track Meet.
Students competed in the 200 meter dash, the 50 meter motor chair race, and even the softball throw at West Valley High School.
Nearly 100 students from the Yakima Valley participated in the event.
All students competed in 3 events, 2 running and one field event.
Students shared their favorite part of the day.
"Because it's awesome because we run everyday," says 5th grader Jessica Lowrey.
"run around...run around the road!" says Leonel Espino.
For many of the students this was their first opportunity to compete in a sport.
