Store Owner Shoots, Kills Suspected Burglar in Walla Walla

A known gang member was shot and killed by the owner of the New York Store in Walla Walla after he allegedly broke into the store early Friday morning.

The Walla Walla County Sheriff's department said dispatch received a call around 2:30 A.M. to a possible break in.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Cesar Chivara, 22, was already dead.

Undersheriff Edward Freyer said the store owner, John Saul, heard somebody breaking into his store.

Saul confronted Chivara and shot him.

The investigation is still open.
