Ams Shinnimin WHL Player of Year, Hiller Coach of Year
Tri-City Americans forward Brendan Shinnimin has been named the WHL's player of the year and Americans head coach Jim Hiller has been named the league's coach of the year.
The duo received the awards at the annual WHL awards banquet in Calgary today.
Shinnimin is the first Am to win the player of the year award since Stu Barnes in 1988-89. This season he led the WHL in scoring with 134 total points.
Hiller led the Americans to the U.S. division regular season title and the best regular season record in the Western Conference. The Americans won 50 of their 72 regular season games this year and advanced to the Western Conference finals in the playoffs.
