Timmy Bowden's Body Found
The body of Timmy Bowden, the 14 year old Finley boy who drowned last Saturday night when the boat he was in on the Snake River overturned, was found near Crescent Island today, according to dive experts.
Crescent Island is located on the Columbia River near the Boise paper mill in Wallula.
Walla Walla County Sheriff John Turner confirmed Bowden's body was found about 2 p.m. by a citizen boater.
Turner says Bowden's body was visible from the water and that the boater contacted the sheriff's department asking for further assistance.
Because of the weekend, Turner says today's search was of a large scale involving several resources from neighboring counties, a special search team from Idaho, as well as a number of volunteers from the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla.
On Tuesday, the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office hopes to pull the boat that Bowden was on out of the Snake River.
Bowden was the only member of the five member fishing party not to make it back to shore following last Saturday night's accident.
Turner once again emphasized the importance of wearing life jackets whether you're boating or playing in or near the water.
