Roll Your Own Tax to go Into Effect

Roll-your-own cigarette stores are required to start charging a 15 cent per cigarette tax starting Sunday.
This is an about face from earlier this week -- when a Franklin County judge barred the state from collecting the tax.
However, to put the injunction in place the retailers, who claim the tax violates the two thirds approval needed in the state legislature to impose a tax, needed to post a $200,000 dollar bond to protect the state, should the state ultimately win the court case.
The plaintiffs don't plan to pay the bond now, but they may in the future.
