Price War Over Gas

The sign outside of Warriors Gas Station in Cle Elum states its a quick stop, but for drivers like Simon Barr,  heading home to Ellensburg from Seattle, it's his first stop.

"Usually it's a lot more expensive here in Cle Elum but lately its been ya know 20-30 cents less than it seems what we can find in Ellensburg," says Simon Barr.

Warriors Quick Stop, an independent station,  is dropping is prices making it one of the cheapest places to buy gas in the entire state at $3.27 a gallon.
And because its so cheap- its forcing the chain gas stations nearby to drop their prices if they want  to stay competitive.

"It's one of the better gas prices on the way, wait I'd say the best so far," says James Nelson.

So for students making only a few bucks from summer jobs- Warrior's is the only logical place to fill up.

"Pretty much any money that I can get I use on gas, it's a lot cheaper," says Lindsey Vertefeuille.

Because of heat from other location gas stations- the owner of this gas station declined to comment on camera- but he says the reason his prices are so low, is because his supplier is giving him a discount and instead of keeping it for himself he wants to share it with his customers.

And drivers arent the only one's reaping the benefits of this gas war, the owners of  downtown businesses can't get enough of it.

" As a business we love it the more people coming through town the better for us- its great, great weather right now, so we are expecting a lot of customers and were ready!" says Ela Gornostoloski.

Simon bBrr is only 30 miles from home, but says for this trip topping off is going to pay off.

"We had enough gas to get back to Ellensburg but we figured might as well save a little bit of that and gas up right here."
