Dr Michael Murphy Passes Away After Battle With Cancer
A longtime ear nose and throat surgeon from Yakima passes away after a 7 month long battle with cancer.
70 year old Michael Murphy died Monday
Doctor Murphy served four decades at both hospitals, and earlier this month was honored by Yakima Regional Hospital.
He was a avid member of the boy scouts for years, and credited for bringing medical education to the Yakima Valley
Murphy's coworker and friend for 27 years says the community was a better place with him in it.
"He was a force of nature and whatever he did he did with tremendous energy, tremendous passion and whatever he did, was full speed ahead, and because of that he made tremendous contributions, says Dr Robert Schefter.
Murphy also helped start a clinic in the county to help children with a cleft lip and palate.
Murphy retired last November and within a few weeks was diagnosed with cancer.
