UPDATE: Hillsboro, OR Approves Bears Lease Tonight
As expected the Hillsboro, Oregon city council unanimously approves a lease with the Yakima Bears Tuesdaynight, further clearing the way for the Bears to move to that city next season.
The deal is for twenty years. The Northwest League, and both minor and Major League Baseball have to approve the deal by September 4th--Hillsboro will then issue bonds to begin construction on a stadiujm, which is expected to be done for next season.
Bears owner mike mcmurray is quoted in an Oregonian report tonight as saying "we've been looking for quite a while to find a suitable home for the team, and that's Hillsboro."
