Thousands Honor Fallen Soldier in Walla Walla
The remains of a Walla Walla soldier who was killed in action on June 6th were returned to his hometown on Tuesday.
Lt. Fazzari was killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan while flying a helicopter during a surveillance mission.
His body was flown to the Walla Walla Airport at 11:00 A.M. where he was greeted by family and his close friends on the tarmac.
Lt. Fazzari's hearse traveled into downtown on Main Street where thousands of people held American flags and showed support by waving, holding signs and applauding the service of the fallen soldier.
Main Street was closed off to other traffic while the procession rolled through downtown.
Several emergency vehicles, veterans on motorcycles and other people traveled with the hearse as it made its way to the final destination at the Herring Funeral Home on Alder Street just before noon.
Services for Lt. Fazzari
Lt. Fazzari will be honored at a rosary event June 21st at 7:00 P.M. at Assumption Catholic Church, followed by the funeral on Friday the 22nd at the church.
A community memorial service will be held to honor Lt. Fazzari's service Saturday the 23rd at 11:00 A.M. at Cordiner Hall.
