Police Investigating Gang Related Shooting on W. Mead Ave
Yakima police are investigating what they are calling a gang related shooting which occurred Saturday afternoon. Below is the official release from the YPD:
On 6/16/12 at about 4:37 PM Yakima police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 Blk W. Mead for a gunshot victim. When officers arrived they located 4 subjects in the front yard of the residence. One of the subjects had a gunshot wound to his left thigh. Witnesses advised that the 4 subjects had been standing in the front yard area when a silver Cadillac CTS occupied by 2 Hispanic males dressed in red drove east on Mead in front of the residence. The passenger in the vehicle shot at the subjects in the yard, striking the 27 year old victim in the thigh. He was the only person injured in the attack. The vehicle continued east on Mead and was not located.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening wound.
This incident is likely gang related. The Yakima police department Gang Unit is investigating this incident.
