Richland Fire

Dozens of residents of a Richland apartment complex are out of their homes tonight, after fire destroys one unit, heavily damaged another and does severe smoke damage.

Firefighters were called to the Casa Grande apartments on George Washington Way about 8 o'clock last night to find a huge fire.

When they arrived a ground floor unit was engulfed in flames, smoke was pouring from the building and two people needed rescuing, one suffering severe smoke inhalation.  He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A second man was rescued from his balcony.

The fire department says the smoke and water damage to the west side of the building is so severe, residents are displaced indefinately.

They hope to open up the other side of the building as soon as investigators say it's safe.
