UPDATE:Pasco mail distribution center open until early 2013, Yakima a year later
The United States Postal Service has announced the Pasco mail processing and distribution center will remain open until February 2013.
The Yakima facility, however, won't close until, January or February 2014.
It was announced last year that both facilities might be closed this summer as part of a nationwide effort to cut costs.
Once the facilities shut down, mail processing and distribution will consolidate with Spokane.
As a result of the facility closures, an estimated 19 jobs in Yakima and 2 jobs in Pasco will be impacted.
