Hillsboro, OR to Offer Bears 20 Year Lease Tonight
The 2012 Northwest League season begins ten days from now, but the Yakima Bears plans for 2013 may be decided by then and certainly by the end of the month.
Tonight the city of Hillsboro, Oregon--thirty miles west of Portland-- is prepared to offer the Bears a twenty year lease to move there and green light the building of a fiteen million dollar 4500 seat stadium.
The proposed deal calls for it to be accepted by the Bears by June 29th.
Last year the Bears announced plans to move to the Vancouver Washington area in time for this season, but the Clark County commissioners could not put a stadium deal together.
The Bears general manager K.L. Wombacher did tell KAPP KVEW ownership will approve the term sheet and is waiting on the full lease agreement to be done before commenting further. Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley sent us a text saying it's sad, "but they have to do what they have to do"
