Cross Country Cyclist Team Pedals through Eastern Washington
WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A team of cyclists passed through Walla Walla Sunday afternoon visiting with individuals and organizations that help people with disabilities.
Averaging 75 miles a day, the goal of the cross country trek, titled Journey of Hope, is to raise funds and awareness on behalf of people with disabilities in hopes of enhancing their quality of life.
Organized by Push America, the team, consisting of fraternity members from across the country, started their trek early Friday morning in Enumclaw, Washington. Since Friday, they've made stops in Yakima and Richland.
Cyclists hope to average 75 miles a day traveling from city to city and plan to wrap up their ride in Washington D.C. on August 5.
On Monday, the team will head to Pullman before making a stop in Spokane on Tuesday.
