NW pilots descend into College Place area for airport open house
Pilots from across the Pacific Northwest landed at Martin Field near College Place for the airport’s open house Saturday.
The one-day free event featured displays of experimental and vintage aircraft.
Pilots also had an opportunity to attend safety seminars and learn about using alternative aviation fuels.
Martin Field is a privately-owned, public-use airport located about 1 mile west of College Place.
Founded in the 1940s, Martin Field served as a training ground for about 2,500 U.S. Naval aviators during World War II.
