Yakima City Council.

Yakima City Council approves a preliminary plan to change Yakima's organizational structure.

City Manager Tony O'Rourke met with the council this morning to discuss a plan that aims to consolidate the city's utility and engineering departments.

This change would separate the community and economic development offices, and reassign the city's emergency dispatch.

O'Rourke says the changes will create a customer focused organization.

"Our major focus is to ensure that we are delivering high quality services to our customers in the community, both residential and business. That's what most important to us," said O'Rourke.

O'Rourke says the plans will be further  developed over the next few weeks and presented to the city council on August 21st for final approval.
