Washington officials are sifting through a Federal Immigration Database- to weed out ineligible voters.

For the first time the Secretary of State's Office has access to the database-- to make sure everyone voting in the November election is actually eligible to vote.

Officials are not sure how much this process will impact November election.

But a local immigration attorney says this is an unfair attack on some immigrants.

"Let's beat up on the mexicans?- it's like come on they are here doing this economy a favor, especially around here, the agriculture around here would collapse if it wasn't for these people,"   says attorney Tom Roach.

A spokesperson at the secretary of state's office says it's important to comb through the database to gain public trust and confidence in the election process.

Washington state has tried for seven years to get access to this database and has never gotten this far.
