Students Build Robotic Arm

Yakima Valley Middle School Students work with an extra arm today - a robotic one.

Today, seventh grade students built a robotic arm from scratch at Perry Technical Institutes second annual robotics camp.

The 25 students were nominated by their peers to attend the camp all week.

Students not only have to build the arm - they have to program it to move and function in different tasks.

"Probably setting it up, for the programing to make sure it works on the conveyer belt," says Jovany Johnson.

"I really like building other things and I thought I might like trying to build a robot," says Margaret Ballew

The camp continues until Friday- where the students will be demonstrating their robotic arm to their parents- by scooping ice cream for them.
