Local Unemployment Drops in June

Unemployment rates fell throughout our local counties in May.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATES
LOCAL COUNTIES-JUNE 2012
Benton 8.3% (-.4%)
Franklin 8.7% (-1.1%)
Kittitas 8.1% (-.7%)
Walla Walla 6.8 % (-.6%)
Yakima 9.3% (-1.5%)

All five counties were down, including a one and a half percent decline in Yakima, which still has the highest rate in the area. Walla Walla county is now under seven perfcent unemployment, along with Douglas and San Juan counties, the only counties in the state under seven percent.
