Roads Still Closed in Walla Walla County

Washington Governor Chris Gregoire has declared a state of emergency for 16 different counties including Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla, Yakima and Kittitas.

The emergency was prompted by recent storms that have hit the eastern part of the state over the last couple of weeks.

The storms caused power outages, fuel shortages and road closures throughout eastern Washington starting on July 13th.

The storms took out parts of roadways in Walla Walla County, southern Benton County on Highway 14 and between Yakima and Ellensburg on State Route 821, forcing closures throughout those areas.
