Whooping Cough Hits 3000
The number of whooping cough cases in Washington has just hit 3000. In the same time period last year there were just 200 reported cases.
The state Health Hepartment says whooping cough has been reported in nearly every county in Washington, but Skagit County has the highest rate.
The disease is most common in children and can be dangerous for infants. Health officials say vaccinations are the best way to prevent the spread of whooping cough.
