The Democratic candidate for Governor discusses jobs and education plans with Yakima Valley residents today.

Jay Inslee  stopped by Yakima Valley Community College to speak to students and staff about his plan to create jobs, and the importance of higher education and workforce training.

Inslee, a former educator at YVCC, says an important step in lowering the unemployment rate in Washington state is bringing jobs to Yakima.

"Improving access to the highly skilled trading programs right here at YVCC, at Heritage, and some of the outreach programs. From Central, and other parts of the college, this is pivotal in making sure we can bring new employers to the Yakima Valley," says Inslee.

Inslee is running against Republican Rob McKenna.

The state primary is August 7th.
