Dozens of educators at Washington State University Tri-Cities gather to say goodbye to a friend and colleague today.

The school's chancellor, Vicky Carwein, is officially leaving her job at WSU at the the end of August.

She's taking a new chancellor position at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in September.

She's worked at the Tri-Cities campus for six years.

Carwein grew up in Indiana, and earned her bachelor's and doctorate degrees from Indiana University.

"It's with real mixed emotions that I say goodbye to a lot of really great friends and wonderful colleagues that I've had here. But this is an opportunity that is really a capstone for me in my career" said Carwein.

The school's Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, James R. "Dick” Pratt, will be the interim chancellor until a permanent replacement is found.
