Overnight Yakima Shooting Hospitalizes Woman
Yakima Police are investigating an overnight gang related shooting that left a 26 year old woman hospitalized.
Officers say this morning around 12:30AM, they responded to the 1100 block of South 6th Avenue. They found Magaly Alejandre with a gunshot wound in her back. She told police she had been lying in bed when she felt a sharp pain.
Officers say a bullet traveled into the home, through the mattress and into the victim's back.
The victim is in stable condition at the hospital. The woman's infant daughter was in the same room in a crib and was not harmed.
While officers were at the home investigating, a man told them that he was traveling in his car on 6th Avenue when gang members in a seperate vehicle shot at his vehicle.
Alejandre is not affiliated with gangs.
