A former Hanford High School teacher accused of having sexual contact with a 16 year-old girl pleads not guilty this morning in Benton County Superior Court.

59 year-old Daryl Rachinski is charged with 3rd degree rape.

Court documents state Rachinski was in a position of trust with the victim, and early in the morning on June 10th, he went into her bedroom and assaulted her.

Police say two days after the alleged incident, Rachinski turned himself in and admitted to violating the girl.

Richland School Board president Rick Jansons confirms Rachinski was a Russian language teacher at Hanford High, and the school board accepted his resignation last month.

Rachinski is released on his own personal recognizance.

His trial is scheduled to start September 17th.

Rachinski will be back in court for another hearing on August 2nd.
