Firefighter Contract Approved
The Yakima City Council approves a new contract with the firefighters union.
The new contract calls for a 5% pay increase over the next two years- 4% this year and 1% the following year.
The previous contract was shot down by the city council earlier this year and would have cost the city about $850K, but this new contract is estimated to cost about $300,000.
The President of the Yakima Firefighters Association says he is happy the city and the union could come to an agreement.
