Senator Patty Murray Talks Education Reform With Educators
Washington Senator Patty Murray was in Yakima today to talk to educators about her plans for education reform.
Murray met with school superintendents from around the Yakima Valley at Adams Elementary. Murray is working to re-shape the federal "No Child Left Behind" law, to allow schools and teachers to be more flexible in how they teach students.
She and others believe the law is too strict, and doesn't take into account specific challenges each school may face.
"After having listened to a lot of teachers, superintendents and parents, is change the way we look at schools so we allow them to be who they can be the best," says Sen. Murray.
Murray also visited with students in two classrooms at the elementary school.
