Less fortunate families in the Yakima Valley now have healthy food to put on the table tonight.

This afternoon Second Harvest gave away fruit, vegetables and other foods, during a food bank distribution at Grace lutheran church in Yakima.
Families also received bread, orange juice, as well as blankets and hand sanitizer.

Some receiving food today say they are on fixed incomes, and now they'll be able to stretch their food bill.

"It'll keep us going for another week or so anyhow, when you're retired you don't get a whole lot," says Frank Pimentel of Moxee.

"This makes me get through the month, every month, I wouldn't eat half as well if they didn't have this," says Vera Young of Yakima.

The line of families receiving food today stretched around the church's parking lot. Volunteers say they had enough food for at least 300 families.
