Umatilla Co. agrees to help fund ambulance services
Residents in Milton-Freewater will have ambulance services for the next five months thanks to financial help from Umatilla County.
County commissioners agreed to pay the Milton-Freewater Rural Fire Department $5,000 a month to keep the services going.
Last November, voters overwhelmingly approved a property tax to fund the department - but that money doesn't kick in until November.
It costs nearly $100,000 a year to fund the ambulance services.
