Saving Lives By Learning C.P.R.
Volunteers are setting up for a Yakima event aimed at helping you save a life.
The third annual "C.P.R. Blitz" is taking place Saturday morning at the Convention Center. Participants will learn how to perform C.P.R. on dummies, and will also receive instructions on how to use an automatic external defibrillator.
Organizers say some people hesitate to try and save a stranger's life. But they say since most emergencies happen at home, you might be saving someone you love.
"Eight out of ten times if you ever use CPR or first aid, it's on a loved one, it's on a family member, so the question is, can you save their lives?" says C.P.R. co-director Pete Orgill.
The C.P.R. Blitz will feature two sessions in English, one at 9 a.m., the other at 10 a.m. A session in Spanish takes place at 11 a.m. The event is free to anyone who wants to learn C.P.R.
