Jay Clough announces campaign for state legislature
A local former marine who ran for congress two years ago and lost, is now running for Washington's state legislature.
36 year-old Jay Clough announced his new campaign this morning.
He says he is challenging representative Brad Klippert.
Clough was planning on running for congress against Doc Hastings again this year, but changed his mind so he could be closer to his wife and daughter, if elected.
The democrat believes he will be more effective as a local legislator.
"Trying to get things done for this area would be harder at the federal level than at the state level. The state level, I can actually get things done, I can make a difference in people's lives. I can pass legislation that puts people to work sooner, I can help out our farmers sooner, I can help businesses like Bookwalter sooner" said Clough.
Clough says he his priorities will be creating jobs and promoting our local wine industry.
