Pedestrian runs into roadway, struck by passing motorist
A 68-year-old woman is transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital after being struck by a passing motorist after troopers say she ran into traffic.
Troopers say Maxine Rippy was on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes of State Route 97 when she ran into the roadway and was struck by a passing motorist.
The driver, 38-year-old Darren Thomas was not injured and able to drive his damaged vehicle from the scene.
Investigators say drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the accident and that no charges will be filed.
