Hermiston School District hopes to raise $700,000 for field improvements
The Hermiston School District is hoping to raise $700,000 in the next four months so it can renovate the outdoor field and bleachers at Hermiston High School.
The outdoor seats at Kennison Field have been deemed dangerous, and there are multiple cracks in the track.
Last night, the school board endorsed a $4 million renovation project to get the field up to code.
The district has $3.3 million so far.
Administrators hope to raise the rest of the money through grants and donations from community members.
The school district plans to use temporary bleachers for the 2012 football season.
The 2013 track season will be moved to Armand Larive Middle School.
